There are also products bought away from Western manufacturers. The reason for this is never just price. The most complicated body seals we have had manufactured are made in Thailand. Why? They have better toolmakers than anyone else so the product is just plain better. Was this cheaper? Absolutely not, but we don’t care. Just look at the range & quality of our seals.

One of the things that gives us most pleasure in our business is the resurrection of products that were previously unavailable. There is nothing more frustrating for an owner or a technician to find out that the part they need to finish a job is not available. From our first forays into the manufacture of Coolant Hoses for classic Rolls-Royce & Bentley motorcars when many radiator hoses first became unavailable & then quadrupled in price, we recognised there was a need in the market for high quality replacements... Here’s why:

• Bentley Motors currently stocks radiator & heater hoses for classic Rolls-Royce & Bentley models in small volumes. Low volume manufacture is expensive & this is reflected in the prices they charge
• Many are no longer available from Bentley Motors at all
• Some (those for the post-war six-cylinder engine cars) have been re-designed for reasons of economy & no longer resemble the hoses that were originally fitted to the cars, meaning that vehicles they are fitted to lose authenticity.

Within the range of classic hoses, those for post-war six-cylinder models posed a particular challenge. At the time these cars were built the technology of reinforcing hoses internally with cotton was relatively new & was not employed by Rolls-Royce Motorcars. Instead, hoses were reinforced externally with a cotton stocking, or “stockingette”, which is why hoses of this type have an appearance characteristic of the period. Manufacturing lookalike hoses for the six-cylinder cars was never going to be easy. Firstly we wanted to produce proper cotton-reinforced hoses that would meet modern standards of resilience and durability. Secondly, the machinery & techniques required to manufacture hoses featuring convolutions & the characteristic “stockingette” finish have long since become redundant. After much searching however, we were fortunate to locate a supplier with all the original capabilities. What followed was a significant investment in tooling & product volumes but we are proud to be able to offer a range that preserves the original look of cars of that period.

Bilstein air springs are manufactured entirely in Germany, from German-made components, as opposed to other aftermarket versions which are manufactured in the Far East. Indeed, many of the significant components in the Bilstein air spring are also used in the Bentley air spring. Unlike other aftermarket offerings the Bilstein units are fully active, integrating seamlessly with the on-board electronic ride system, rather than simply switching out the warning light on the dashboard. Each damper comes with instructions provided in 15 different languages for easier fitting. For many years owners have been plagued by noisy & unreliable A6-type air conditioning compressors. The A6 compressor was used on Silver Shadow, Bentley T & Spirit series models from 1965 to 1986 but compressor design has improved considerably since then. The Prestige Parts compressor is a modern, lightweight unit (54% lighter) featuring a 10-piston design (versus 6 in the original). The pistons are teflon-coated for quiet operation & improved fuel economy. The compressor incorporates modern lip seals to replace the earlier, less reliable metal or ceramic seals, & employs a friction ring in the pulley to ensure continuous contact with the clutch hub & reduced slippage. This is not just a replacement for the original A6 compressor but a superior product. 

Adding a Handling Package has long been one of the most loved upgrades that can be performed on a classic Rolls-Royce or Bentley. One of the downsides of a comfortable ride is the distinctive but unnerving roll around corners. For some years now Prestige Parts has been able to offer new Calipers for all standard models built from 1965 to 1997. The manufacturer of this range only makes brake calipers, & they are the 1st tier supplier to the production line of a major German car manufacturer. Each caliper is air-pressure tested at the factory & a further batch test is performed on a purpose-built test rig, during which a caliper must retain 3,000 psi for a period of 60 minutes. Production began in 2009 & since then the caliper range has been supplied to specialists & Rolls-Royce owners in over 36 countries. More than half of the calipers stocked by Prestige Parts have been discontinued at Bentley Motors but have been faithfully reproduced to the original specifications which means they meet the highest standards of expectation. Remember, these are new units - no surcharges & no exchange units required.

The Prestige Parts shock absorbers were commissioned by two independent companies to advise on the ideal specification for each. The Bilstein components are well regarded in the industry, having been used in popular handling packages & also as direct replacements for the Sachs-Boge Shock Absorbers supplied by Bentley Motors. If there is a criticism of the Bilstein units, it is that they can be slightly harsh at low speeds, which is partly a function of their being gas-charged as opposed to oil filled. The manufacturer was provided a brief to mimic the damping curve of the Bilstein units above a particular shaft speed whilst allowing the shock absorber to begin operating at slightly lower forces than that exhibited by the Bilstein. A second company worked as technical advisors to audit the work, ensuring that the end product met the agreed specifications. Samples were fitted to test vehicles to ensure that product specification transferred to comfort & handling on the road. With the short stroke front & rear for convertible Corniche models, the brief was simpler & was simply to mimic the damping curve of the original Sachs-Boge units. 

Over the course of around about 18 months, a range of different Window Motors were developed, all based around the same product, but comprising 4 different part numbers which will replace any window motor for four door Rolls-Royce & Bentley motor cars built from 1965 all the way through to 1995. And, of course none of those motors are available brand new from Bentley.

These window motor kits are available on an outright basis, with no additional core charges, & may be fitted without any further modifications to the vehicle. The motor itself is based mostly around an original Lucas motor using some of the original tooling that was used in Lucas Motor, so it is at its heart, a factory original component which has just been modified & adapted to do a bit more than it was originally designed for.  

Prestige Parts has developed the widest range of body seals available for post-war classic Rolls-Royce & Bentley motorcars. In many cases these are developed as exact reproductions of the original seals. This involves substantial investment in high quality tooling & inventory. We have been expanding the parts range for post-war engines exponentially in the last 12 months, but this set of gems is too nice not to list on its own. When it was decided to manufacture rocker shafts for MkVI, R-Type, Silver Wraith & Silver Dawn, it was natural to look at the companion parts that go with it. When you replace the rocker shaft, it is normal to stone & re-bush the rocker arms. Wouldn’t it be nice if you could buy brand new rocker arms already with the bushes fitted? Bundles are also available which allow you to buy everything together in order to get a better price for all required components.   The Rocker Shaft is manufactured from the highest quality induction hardened steel, while the Rocker Arms are made to the original engineering drawings, & include the bush ready-sized, with new adjusting screws & nuts. A complete range of Power Steering Hoses is available for the S-type & Silver Cloud models. On initiation of this project, the main brief was to provide hoses that did not suffer from the noise & resonance characteristic of the current hoses supplied by Bentley Motors. In addition, it was observed that a number of hoses had become unavailable so we resolved to remanufacture these as well. We are now delighted to say that we have resolved the issues of noise emanating from the power steering hoses & the Prestige Parts is the only organisation in the world to have produced a full range of steering hoses for these Rolls-Royce & Bentley models, available immediately from any of our global preferred partners. 

Prestige Parts are proud to present our enlarged & updated range of Brake Pads, Shoes, Discs & Drums. Due to some significant new additions we are now able to provide the largest range of Brake Pads & Shoes for Rolls-Royce & Bentley motor cars anywhere in the world. All Brake Pads are supplied by major European OEM manufacturers & incorporate either the genuine friction material or an equivalent approved to European Reg 90 specification (Reg 90 requires that friction materials meet or exceed the original specification). Brake discs & Drums are sourced in the UK, including a plant supplying a major British luxury car manufacturer we all know well!! 

These bumper components have been manufactured from microcellular polyurethane, as per the original Rolls-Royce component, & are reinforced with steel inserts. However, the original inserts were prone to rust, so the Prestige Parts reinforcement plate has been fabricated from stainless steel. Age causes another issue: the effect of UV light & heat causes the quarter bumper to distort, pulling the end away from the body of the car, so in the case of the Prestige Parts bumpers the thickness of the steel plate used for reinforcement has been increased by 50%.
