Technical Video : Bleeding the Brakes - Rolls-Royce & Bentley Models with Brake Pumps

Matt shows us how to bleed the brakes on our 1992 Bentley Turbo R. He explains in three easy steps how to carry an important service that you can do yourselves on your vehicle. Carrying out this service can improve the life of your model. We used Mineral Oil RH15215 in this video as this car is a later model that runs with mineral oil. Always check the label on your vehicle before using any fluids in it - pouring the wrong oil can and will damage the lubrication system!


Technical Video : Removing Driveshaft Flange from Hub

The drive shaft flanges on Rolls-Royce Silver Shadows (T type) and early Silver Spirits, Spurs (Bentley Turbo, Brooklands, Mulsanne, Eight) are fixed to the stub axle on the hub, with a taper and woodruff key. The nut is tightened to 500lbft which means the flange requires a lot of pulling force to remove it. This video details the technique used to remove the driveshaft flange from the hub.

Steel or Bronze oil pump gear on your Silver Shadow II?

Matt confirms the right material for your Crankshaft gears. Originally cars had a steel gear on the crankshaft and a bronze gear on the oil pump.

After chassis number 39628 for models between 1965 to 1980, the arrangement was changed over so the crankshaft gear is bronze and the oil pump gear is steel.

Make sure if you are changing old ones then to change both this gears to the newer ones - UE41034 is the bronze gear on the crankshaft and UE42783 is the steel oil pump gear.

Silver Dawn, Silver Wraith, Mk VI & R Type Replacement Gear Washer for RG5829

 This key washer should be fitted in place of the original key washer RG7392, which was found to be prone to cracking. RG5829 is 0.050" thicker than the original washer part number RG7392. Failure to replace with the strengthened key washer or replacing with RG7392, can leave the gearbox prone to serious failure. Gearboxes marked "W1" & W2" have already been equipped with this modification.

Rolls-Royce & Bentley Secondary Door Seals

Secondary Door Seals may be fitted to any Rolls-Royce and Bentley model built from 1955 to 1997. They are designed to reduce wind noise, which is a problem for many motorcars where the primary door seal is fitted to the door rather than the body of the car.

They do so by occupying the gap between the frame of the door and the body of the car (the “door gap”) where wind noise is generated.

You will find that fitting a set of these seals will make a significant difference to noise inside the car.
