Original Equipment vs Aftermarket: Dispelling the Myth

IntroCar continues to bring to market parts for Rolls-Royce and Bentley motorcars which have otherwise been discontinued by the factory. Here we take an example product - a Lucas contact set - and examine the changes made to a design which are an improvement upon the Original specification.. aftermarket is not always inferior!

In this instance this original product is actually still available (you can find both Original and Aftermarket stocked at IntroCar under part number CD3047), but we are happier selling the one we have had remanufactured which is fit for purpose.

Where we are concerned, aftermarket should meet or exceed the original equipment manufacturer (OEM) specifications. That is why we offer a 3 year warranty on all our remanufactured products (find them listed under the 'Prestige Parts®' brand on our website).

Each Bentley or Rolls-Royce is unique.. as is it's experience with you as it's caretaker! We listen, you talk.. this is all about the classic and their journeys with you. What's been special about your motoring journey and what stories would you like to share? Here we share our conversations with owners and their cars... enjoy!

Rasto Melicher

This week's conversation is about a Rolls-Royce Silver Wraith II brought back to working order by her current owner Rasto, who had no idea what he was letting himself in for when he bought her from England (off just 5 photos & 20 years stadning!) and brought her to her new home in the Czech Republic. Rasto has single handedly performed engine work and a full gearbox overhaul amongst many other restorative work, and is looking forward to each and every challenge she continues to present him with. Enjoy the story of how he has got fully hooked on his new family member... Thanks Rasto - I look forward to a follow up story!

Joschka Röben

We meet Joschka's Bentley Turbo R and find out about how his love for the car has turned into an amazing side project as he has introduced multiple new products to market! Joschka tells us about how he became an enthusiast, how he ended up making the parts he's introduced (and subsequently sold all over the world!) and his past and future travel plans with his Turbo R.

Thanks Joschka... looking forward to seeing you in person at a future car show!

Dan Furr

This week I get a chance to interview Dan Furr, editor of the iconic GT Porsche magazine and contributor to many, many more of our favorite reads including the Rolls-Royce & Bentley Driver magazine all of our viewers will be familiar with.

Dan lets me in on his background to the classics and how his loving restoration of Pandora (his published journey with his Silver Shadow II) came about.

Dean Jaggard

This week Dean gives me a lowdown on his background and his new business venture - Jaggard Consultants, plus I get to find out what car he chose to be custodian of! With over 30 years in the industry Dean has a few unique stories to tell!

Michael Brown

I see inside Michael's workshop this week as he shows me his 3 current Rolls-Royce cars which are all getting the full restorative treatment package. Each Bentley or Rolls-Royce is unique.. as is it's experience with it's caretaker and here Michael tells us when the marque first turned him into the enthusiast of today, what makes him choose a car, and what ultimately drove him to commence work on www.garageomatic.com - a platform built by enthusiasts FOR enthusiasts to manage classic car collections and projects.

1947 Bentley Mk VI

We meet "The Turtle" - a 1947 Bentley Mk VI Each Bentley or Rolls-Royce is unique.. as is it's experience with it's caretaker and here Carter tells us about his 46 years (wow!) with his Bentley Mk VI. She is in incredible condition and looking forward to touring more shows once we are lifted from 'shelter-in-place'.

David Trapp

We get a tour of David's Air Hanger in Kentucky which is currently housing 8 or so of his cars along with a side kick aircraft.

We actually had to edit David's interview down by almost 50% but I have hopefully shared the key pieces and may need to follow up with a Part 2 as I was pretty disapointed to have to cut some of the stories.

1978 Bentley T2

We meet "Du Pont" - a 1978 Bentley T2 Each Bentley or Rolls-Royce is unique.. as is it's experience with it's caretaker and here Paul tells us about his decade with his Bentley T2. She is a very unique shade of blue which gets him a lot of compliments and he's generous with his joy rides! ;)
